FAQs
How long will it take to build my gun?
Because of the custom nature of our products, we don’t maintain a large inventory—each speargun is made to order. The typical build time ranges from 2 to 4 weeks but can extend up to 8 weeks during periods of high demand. Once your order is submitted, we’ll provide you with an estimated completion date. Since every gun is handcrafted, please note that once construction begins, the order becomes non-refundable.
Which speargun is right for me?
We offer a range of gun sizes to suit various diving conditions. Your choice should primarily depend on water visibility and the type of fish you're targeting.
In low-visibility or murky water, a shorter gun is ideal as it aligns with your limited range of sight. In contrast, when diving in clear water where fish can see you just as easily as you see them, a longer gun provides extra range and a better chance of a successful shot.
The size and species of fish you’re hunting also matter. For larger species (typically over 25lbs/10kg), a more powerful gun with a thicker shaft is recommended to ensure sufficient penetration. If you’re targeting smaller reef fish in tight spaces like crevices, a smaller gun with lower power and a thinner shaft will be more than enough.
Should I use a reel or a float line?
Reels are best suited for areas with strong currents or structures that can entangle a float line, such as reefs, kelp beds, wrecks, and jetties. They’re efficient in these environments and are commonly used for smaller fish—though skilled divers can land larger fish with a reel as well.
Float lines come in two main types: vinyl and bungee.
Vinyl float lines are versatile and resistant to abrasion. They allow you to shoot a fish at any depth and safely ascend without gear interference. When set up as a break-away system, the shaft separates from the gun, reducing drag during a fight. Connected to a surface float, vinyl lines let you manage the catch from above and come in various colors for high visibility. They’re also very affordable.
Bungee float lines are made of stretchable material that can extend to twice their length, offering increased stopping power when used with a float in blue water. As the fish runs, the line stretches and gradually applies resistance, minimizing the chance of tearing soft flesh. These lines are designed strictly for open-water hunting—avoid using them near abrasive structures that could damage the material.
IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE:
Always dive with a float and flag, regardless of your setup. Keep your float within 50 feet at all times. Each diver must have their own float. This is essential for your safety.
My gun feels too powerful or too weak—how do I adjust the bands?
Our guns come standard with two 5/8" (16mm) Primeline bands stretched to 325% elongation, which works well for most divers. But preferences vary. If you find the bands difficult to load or the shot feels too forceful, consider switching to longer bands of the same diameter or thinner bands like 9/16" (14mm). On the other hand, if you need more power, try shortening your bands slightly. Regardless of thickness, optimal elongation is between 300% and 350%—going beyond this can lead to faster wear and tear on the rubber.
